Billy (David Strassman) is about to have sex with his girlfriend, Becky (Lisa Glaser) when another humanoid monster claws its way inside, brutally kills him and chases the girl onto the beach. The humanoid thing tears off her swimsuit and rapes her.Īt night, two more teens are on the same beach in a small tent. The screaming girl tries to make it to the beach but she is attacked and dragged onto the sand by a monstrous figure. Peggy believes it is simply a prank until she discovers his horribly mutilated corpse.

The following night, teenagers Jerry Potter (Meegan King) and Peggy Larson (Lynn Schiller) go for a swim at the beach. Later, Carol's dog goes missing and the two find its dismembered corpse on the nearby beach. Jim Hill (McClure) and his wife Carol witness the explosion. Another angler prepares a flare gun, but he slips and shoots it accidentally into the deck, which is soaked with gasoline dropped earlier by the boy, causing the vessel to burst into flames and then explode everybody onboard is killed. The young son of one of the anglers falls into the water and is dragged under the surface by something unseen. I get a hint of a stiff neck every time I review the movie in my head! I do recommend you rent or buy 'The Deep.' Pop up some popcorn, put your feet up and just let yourself be immersed in this entertaining and gorgeous at times, movie. My recollections of seeing 'The Deep' for the first time in the theater, include sitting in the front row with head bent backwards, watching oversize tropical fish swimming back and forth across the screen. Bisset's underwater scenes are just as satisfying. Accompanied by multiple tropical fish, Ms. Jacqueline Bisset appeared draped in a wet t-shirt, causing audience members everywhere to either gasp, gulp or sigh. When first released, the scenery above and below the water in 'The Deep' proved to be amazing. and Eli Wallach will be pleased to see them on screen, but less than satisfied with their weak parts.

Allow your mind to suspend reality for a couple of hours, and enjoy 'The Deep' for what it is. Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bisset star in this solid 'B' movie, meant to entertain not challenge the average movie goer.
